Mail-in knife sharpening, Australia wide

No sharpener in your town — or none you'd trust with a good knife? Post them to ours. We sharpen on a slow, water-cooled wheel in our Lake Macquarie workshop and post them back razor-sharp, with return postage already paid.

How it works

  1. 1

    Order online

Tell us how many knives and pay upfront — the order form quotes your exact total live. Postage both ways is one flat fee.

  2. 2

    Your satchel arrives

We post you a tough, pre-addressed, prepaid satchel sized to your order — up to 5 knives ($25), 12 ($35) or 20 ($35).

  3. 3

    Pack and post

Fit the universal knife guards supplied in the satchel onto each blade, slide everything into the packing sleeve, seal it, and drop it at any Australia Post outlet or red box. Nothing to pay at the counter.

  4. 4

    Sharpened and returned

We photograph every knife on arrival, sharpen on the water-cooled wheel, hone on a leather wheel, and post them back. You can track your order the whole way.

Our turnaround promise: sharpened within 2 business days of reaching the workshop. Return post adds a few days — most orders are back at your door about a week after we receive them.

Safe in transit, both ways

Why post knives to a workshop across the country?

Because most "while you wait" sharpening is done on fast dry wheels or pull-through jigs that overheat the edge — the steel loses its factory temper and dulls again in weeks. Our wheel turns slowly through a water bath, so the edge never heats up, and a consistent-angle jig gives every knife the same precise bevel. It's the difference between an edge that lasts a fortnight and one that lasts months.

Every knife is covered by the no-fix-no-fee guarantee: a keen, ready-to-use edge, or we redo it free — still not right, that knife is refunded.

What it costs

$15 per standard knife (kitchen, fishing, hunting & pocket), $20 for heavy blades (meat cleavers, machetes, axes, garden shears, chisels), $30 for Japanese single-bevel and specialty steels — plus the flat satchel fee. Full pricing breakdown →

Local to us?

If you're around Lake Macquarie we also collect and return in person. Newcastle and the Central Coast are close enough that mail-in is usually only a day or two each way.
